Brought to Europe around the mid-18th century by Persian traders landing in the Eastern Italian port of Venice (hence the name), Venetian blinds are characterised by their slatted design, offering the user complete control of light filtration and providing an extra level of privacy.
Venetian blinds are window blinds that comprise, in simplistic terms, of horizontal slats, usually made from PVC, wood or aluminium and are used to cover your windows. The user can control the slats, which can be moved in several positions to allow for the perfect amount of sunlight to enter the room. A lift cord allows the blind to be elevated up and down and can be held in a particular position.
As with Roman blinds, Venetian blinds can be raised and lowered using a cord, and control of the individual slats is also possible using a separate cord or plastic wand, allowing for precise determining of light levels in an office or bedroom.
